I’m installing some know-to-be-defective equipment, so that the work order it’s on can be completed, which will trigger a work order for me to drive out into the middle of nowhere, Make a note that they never worked in the first place, which will trigger a work order for me to again drive out and replace the devices I didn’t install in the first place because they never worked. But I have to install these 24 volt lumps of failure in order to not have to install them at all. Make sense? It better not. If it does I can get you a great deal on chocolate covered cotton. I can’t name the Multinational soulless con glomerate that keeps hiring me, but it’s a MAJOR one.

Yes, with Jack Nicholson and Candice Bergen. Garfunkel was Bergen’s husband.

I haven’t seen the movie, but I’ve read the book - great book, not a great way to make a living though...

Get paid just to show up, I just have philosop hical objections to general pointlessness. getting paid 4 times to not do something eases the pain though.

Before my time, and probably not that dirty. 9 1/2 weeks was our benchmark and it’s probably pretty tame these days.

Honestly, it was before my time too as I’m GenX not a Boomer. I saw it at some point and just remember thinking that every main character was unlikable and I’ve had zero desire to watch it again.

I think I’m an x.5, undefined late 70's generation.

I was born in 65 so that makes me the oldest of the Xers.

1978, I remember rotary phones, and when the phone had it’s own table.

We were too young to be xers at the time but that’s where we were lumped in.

I know the pain the catch-22s I see at work are not this bad. I just facepalm and cry and think no wonder healthcare is so expensive and remember I am in $5k of medical debt.

I played Oregon Trail too and we had a rotory phone because it was free from someone. I'm actually a millenial. The biggest generation defining moment for me was the recession of 2008-2011.

I think the fact that I first voted and saw the internet around the same time puts me with the “ olds” . We were teenagers during the 90s and I think more defined by exclusion from the gen x and millenial generations. Kind of “Defined as the gray area” or floating generation, because we can fake it at both ends. I didn’t get a phone myself until maybe 5 year s ago, but my dad’s uniden “car phone” mounted in the trunk and had a battery the size of a VHS tape, which I also remember, as I remember most things before the late 90s.

I hope that doesn’t mean you died of dysentery.

I didn’t. I Did notice the “died of dysentery” T shirt entering the zeitgeist, and thinking to myself that a very narrow age range would get that joke.

on that subject, I once saw a t-shirt featuring the “other” dukes of hazzard. Do you think that was ironic or just a mistake?
